Prescription treatment requires an online evaluation by a licensed clinician and is only prescribed when it is medically appropriate. Your clinician decides the treatment and dose.
Possible thyroid tumors, including cancer. In studies in rodents, these medicines caused thyroid C-cell tumors. It is not known whether they cause these tumors in people. Do not use them if you or a family member has ever had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Tell your clinician about a lump or swelling in your neck, trouble swallowing, hoarseness or shortness of breath.
Serious side effects can include inflammation of the pancreas, gallbladder problems, low blood sugar (especially with insulin or a sulfonylurea), kidney problems, serious allergic reactions and, in people with type 2 diabetes, changes in vision. The most common side effects are nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation and stomach pain.
